Mother's Day love-fest

Gerber daisy, originally uploaded by Rick Takagi.

I am very lucky to have a mom who really is my best friend. This year I've become quadruply lucky to have gained a bunch of stupendous mother and grandmother in laws. Sadly, I screwed up and wasn't on top of the Mother's Day thing. I kept thinking it was so far away and then all of a sudden it's too late to get my cards there on time! Shame on me.

Well, I still want to give a special shout-out to my new mother-in-law, Christine. She actually reads this blog (which is so wonderful) and I hope she reads this tomorrow while having her morning coffee.

Top reasons I'm glad you're my mother-in-law:

1. You have made me feel like a part of the family from the very beginning.
2. You were always nice to me even though I was eating your groceries and making out with your son all through high school. You've remained nice to me even though I don't call enough.
3. You are very generous and give the most thoughtful gifts. That vase shaped like a trout makes me smile every day (I'm not joking.).
4. You give good hugs and I love your trademark infectious laugh-squeak.
5. You work hard but you truly know how to relax and have a good time with your family.

I know we have different tastes and disagree about little things here and there but I'm glad we share the same values and I love you a ton! Happy Mothers Day!

Now that I can see through my tears, thank you Elise for acknowledging me on this special day. I too am pleased to have you as a daughter-in-law (even if you did steal my son away from me long before I was willing and ready to let him go :o) Look at you, beating him in wishing me a Happy Mother's Day. Brownie points will get you everywhere :o) Thank you for your kind words. I love you and am grateful to have you as a part of our family.
