I love my postpeople!

I'm never moving out of Salem because I'm so lucky to have pleasant, informative postal workers who care about their jobs. My tri-weekly trips to the post office would be a total drag if everyone working behind the counter was a grump like I hear so many others are.

I've always thought they were nice but recently I realized that they are extraordinary! When dropping off a small bundle of my snail mailers, I was informed that I could save 30cents on each package by orienting my mailers horizontally instead of vertically (I can't say I completely understood her explanation of why.). My post woman had just learned this at a conference and thought of me! Her thoughtfulness will be saving me a bunch of money!

Her timing was perfect too. I was down to just a few more mailers and had 200 more on the way. I spent a few hours today printing my new envelopes horizontally and look forward to my reduced shipping cost.

I also printed up a ton of new iron on patches and many more pinback buttons. My arms are tired!

I think the horizontal vs. vertical thing has to do with how the machines are meant to read the addresses...the post office is a weird and wonderful place and it's mysteries are not for me to know.

I just love the thoughfulness of people you casually meet. It's funny + sweet that she thought of you at the conference.

The people behind the counter at my post office are very nice, not grumps at all. Sometimes they are so friendly that with a long line forming (+ you in it) I wish they did not appear to know + need to catch-up with everyone ahead of me

Honestly, I think people who say their postal workers are grumpy are rude themselves :) I've never encountered a not nice postal worker and I've lived in a lot of places. I have encountered LONG lines full of rude people sighing and making comments. Perhaps that eventually gets to someone.

That's good to know! My postal workers aren't grumpy, but they are slllllllooooooooooooooowww. And chatty. When the line is 10 deep, it's not very appreciated. However, they do seem very helpful-

Aww how sweet of her to think of you and even take the time out to let you know so that you save some money.

I have come across both bad and good postal workers. I guess it depends on which one you go to.

That's really cool that your post people look after you! My post office lady (yeah...my post office is that small) is awesome, too. Lucky us!

I wonder if the same applies to manila envelopes, and bigger sized envelopes as well? Hmmm....
