I just got back from a fun (and freezing!) rally for the North Shore Birth Center which may be closing due to hospital budget concerns. Nearly two hundred people showed up at 6am to show how much we care about preserving the choice to have a natural birth. I don't know if I'll ever have children but if I do, I'd want to birth at the North Shore Birth Center for sure and I hope that option stays open for many years to come. I think our rally made an impression and I hope the board of trustees hears our voices.

Man, working at the baby store is really going to my head. I can't imagine I would have woken up at 5am on a freezing Tuesday before for this but i heard so many wonderful birth stories and befriended many impassioned moms. I'm very happy and comfortable to continue to protest in the company of smart, caring women who ask for what they want. Yeah!

PS: like my massive layering?

Yes - your massive layering ROCKS.

Good for you to do this. I'm like you, I'm not sure I will have a baby someday - but if I did, this sounds like the kind of place I'd want to have it... but here in Arkansas :)

I know! Birth is waaaay out of my area of comfort and interest but somehow I ended up caring a whole lot.
